Park "Sofievka" - one of the most beautiful parks in the world, pride and national treasure of Ukraine. It's considered to be the best among the world samples of the park-gardening architecture.
The park was created in 1796-1802 by Polish earl Pototskii. He ordered it to express his love and affection to his wife Sofia. Before he even started to build the park the earl already decided that he would name the park after his beloved Sofia - "Sofievka" and will present it as a sign of his big love.
If fate will ever take you over here, be grateful to her for this. This park is located in the suburbs of the most ancient cities of Ukrfaine - Uman. Don't worry if the meeting with this park will be short termed. Of course it's impossible to see everything for one day. But it's enough to touch the splendity of the park, to find yourself in the fairy tale world, that is created by people and full of love, ancient myths and legend, unique beauty of nature. There are lots of legends around of the park, it was believed that a young beautiful greek woman, bought on the Stambul market, was taken to Ukraine. And then she won the heart of Pototskii and not only his.
The earl was married already, but he was not happy. And when he met Sofia, felt in love with her and then they married. This woman gave him an idea to create a romantic park with the episodes from the ancient greek mythology. The park was born by especially picturesque nature in the valley of the river near the Uman, by love of Sofia and Stanislav, by the talent of an engeneer Metselya, by talent and hard labor of Uman masters…
The visitors of the park will have an unforgettable feeling of holiday of soul. Picturesque scenery, with old trees, lakes and waterfalls, grottos and sculptures take us into the world of antique legends. The pavilion of Flora, named after the goddess of spring, as if opens us the temple of nature. After it you can find an artificial sea - Ion sea. There is a wonderful fountain up to 20 meters high in the shape of snake, that was turned into stone by Zeus. Then you can see the bank of Ithaca - Odyssey's estate. Here is Euripides - an ancient Greek play writer, to the right you can see Apollo. There is a spring in front of the bridge; it's believed that it brings inspiration and fantasy. The statue of Venus is on the pedestal.
Then you come across the charming and quietness of Tempeisk valley. The vast of Elsie fields is in front of you, with wide valley and stones of Krot maze. These are only few samples of mythological park. Flora and fauna are very great too.
The story of love has been commemorated in this park. What is about this woman that made a man to create such masterpiece? She was very beautiful, charming, she had kind heart. She probably loved her man with all her heart and he loved her back.
This is a small island of love. Come here to find yourself in the world of love, beauty, passion, talents… Become a part of this masterpiece for a while and get an inspiration from here…
